The department had issued only one lottery ticket, with a single draw in a month or two, until 1987. Now it has six weekly lotteries and half a dozen of Bumper, Super bumper lotteries in an year. The department which had a very humble beginning now has 459 employees. PRIZES:
The prize-winner of a lottery shall surrender the prize-winning ticket within 30 days of the draw with all necessary documents. Prizes up to Rs. 1 Lakh may be claimed from the District Lottery Offices concerned. The Lottery Agents Welfare Fund Scheme was started in the year 1991. Every agent who has a valid agency can enrol himself as a member before the District Lottery Officer after remitting Rs. 15/- as monthly subscription. The members can renew their membership by remitting Rs.2/- with their monthly subscription. A detailed proposal for the reorganisation of the Lottery Agents Welfare Fund Scheme is under consideration of the Government. - www.keralalotteries.com
All the activities relating to the printing and distribution of tickets are under the direct control of the government. Ticket designing is done by experienced panel artists, under the supervision of the Director. This design, once approved by the DSL is printed. Name of the lottery, number, date of draw, ticket number etc. will be there in the front side of each ticket, while the opposite side gives information on the prize structure and how to claim the prize.
